I would NOT recommend investing in an SMI (Success Motivation International/Institute franchise).
The company SMI lies about the number of sales they claim their franchisees make.
Everybody I know in the industry in South Africa and in Britain are either insolvent after investing in the business and then NOT making the projected sales. The product they sell is good but horrendously over priced.
Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

I am an Indonesian, and I am very happy with my investment as Distributor for SMI in Indonesia. I joined in May 2004, and in June 04, I started helping people to achieve their full potential. The clients were happy and refered me more. In Feb 2005, I have serviced more than 30+ clients. Now in December 2005, I have recruited more associates and I am have 60 plus clients in Indonesia. The things, that make me happy and joy about this SMI, I am helping people to achieve their personal dreams, and many live testimonies I am hearing.

I DO RECOMMEND THIS SMI BUSINESS FOR YOU:
SMI is producing the greatest MOTIVATIONAL PROGRAM I have ever taken. I used to do Money Mastery, EU Program, but I almost joined Action International. Finally, I decided to join SMI as Distributor and I am very happy. I quited from my company as employee and now I am an entrepreneur with a very nice income. I just started about in October 2005, and I am getting already increasing in my income through SMI Program.
SMI Program price is very cheap compared to the result that my clients are receiving.
GOOD INVESTMENT… Success is about BE not DO… It is about ATTITUDE.
I, myself, am achieving my goals as Total Person progressively.

Interesting read. I date back to early SMI days when the same differences of opinion existed. I always treasured Paul J. Meyers’ Success Principles, his quotes, and his opportunities. But I remember the illustration about “riding two horses” simultaneously. I notice those who chose to focus, succeeded. I chose to focus on education, using the excellent programs in a school for underachieving students, teaching motivation, management, and goal-setting. My school worked. Then I focused on parents ans teachers, using the same programs. Finally, I marketed the programs to individuals and companies. In the interim, I, also became a slf-directed total person, sharing my successes with community. Bottom line is this franchise requires work and belief in self. The measure of success is not solely a dollar figure, but you will reap what you recognize. I plan to reinstate my franchise, reinvest, and tap a new market in a new area. Create your own approach and make it work!

Selamat Sore but Semangat Pagiiii
For this valuable occassion, allow me to update you about my personal progress as follows:
Since April 1, I was posted by Bank Indonesia at IFSB(Islamic Financial Services Board)in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as Chief Of Project Officer For Islamic Money Market Instrument Development for South East-Asia (ASEAN) region until July 2008.
I conducted research about “Financial Deepening” of Islamic Money market Instrument. I also traveled around ASEAN Countries which has islamic financial industries to share my reseach-paper. I am very happy with this “Progressive achievement” which I had studied in SMI. I really thank to SMI for many success I got in my life.
Thank You very much to you and SMI.

I received a card in the mail. And decided to go the Waco Texas to see their introductory information. The going price for an SMI distributorship at that time was $20,000, however it seems that SMI would accept what they can get. The biggest problem that I had was that every time I was in contact with their advisers, they want them to buy more programs, whether I sold any or not. I was undergoing some family problems at the time and my wife at the time wanted to recoup some of the investment and be reimbursed for some of the programs, but SMI would not take them back.
one of their advisers, Dianne Dermer, called and asked if I could help her set a record with a number of programs sold. I said something like I’ll have to get back to you but it’s possible. Before I could get back to her, she had already charged my credit card. SMI, in my experience, does not treat its distributors well, does not teach them sales methods that build long-term relationships, and is more interested in where he can get monetarily from the distributors rather than what it can give to help them.
