Q: Do I need automotive experience? A: No. You do not need prior experience in the automotive aftercare industry and you do NOT need any mechanical ability. Cottman owners are business people who have been extensively trained in the Cottman System.
Q: What type of training will I receive? A: A comprehensive four-week training program, including three weeks at the home office (cost included in license fee) and one week on-site at your center. Every aspect of your center’s operation is covered in depth, from sales training, personnel hiring and advertising, to balancing the books and trimming costs. Additionally, on-going in-field training sessions for both owners and employees are also conducted.
Q: Does Cottman provide any on-going support? A: Cottman franchisees receive complete and total support. Each center is assigned an Operations Manager who will work with the owner regarding all phases of the Cottman System. Each center is also assigned their own advertising department representative who will work with you in developing advertising plans focusing solely on your market. Additionally, our technical hot line and the “Ask Cottman’s Transmission Physician” section of our website will enable your staff to receive answers to any technical questions that arise.
Q: Are the business hours reasonable? A: Very much so. Cottman centers are open 5 1/2 days a week and close at 6pm Monday through Friday. There is no need to work nights.
Q: Will I need a big inventory? A: No. We recommend about a $3,000 inventory – and it is not perishable.
