How Bartercard Works
The Bartercard franchise is quite simple. It is based on a growing membership of small to medium sized businesses who actively participate in a system where by they have agreed to trade with one another by using the Bartercard Program.
Bartercard members buy and sell products and services in the same way as they would in a cash transaction, the difference being, instead of cash, the medium of exchange is the Bartercard Trade Dollar (T).
Acting as a ‘clearing house’, Bartercard offers an accounting and administrative facility which records the credits and debits (sales and purchases) of all members.
Bartercard members contact each other either directly or through the assistance of their Trade Co coordinator (TCO).
An example of a Transaction could be, a Printer purchases (T)$1000 worth of services from an Accountant. The Printer’s account is then debited by (T)$1000, while the Accountant receives a (T)$1000 credit. The Accountant does not have to buy from the Printer, but can use his Trade Dollars to purchase from any of the over 40,000 Bartercard members worldwide.
A Bartercard transaction is similar to a credit card transaction. The purchaser simply provides their card details and the seller then completes a transaction voucher. This is authorized and the seller gives a copy to Bartercard. Once received by Bartercard the relevant accounts are credited and debited accordingly. … It’s that simple.
