Mr. Transmission, Savannah, GA - It was then we were informed that the transmission had already been rebuilt. We had never seen the work order or an estimate

Mr. Transmission and Better Business Bureau Savannah GA

In February my husband and I arrived in Savannah Georgia and our transmission would not go in gear. Since we were new to the area we chose Mr. Transmission from the yellow pages.

They came and towed the car and we were told that it would cost $229 for them to run the diagnostics. My husband told them to go ahead and run them, since this was our only car. The next day Mr. Transmission called, told us our transmission needed to be rebuilt and it would cost $2000. We told him NOT to repair the car.

The lien holder asked for an estimate in which Mr. Transmission told them it would cost $2400. The lien holder advised us to trade the car in. We called Mr. Transmission and told them that we were going to pay for the diagnostics and get our car back. It was then we were informed that the transmission had already been rebuilt. We had never seen the work order or an estimate.

I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in which Mr. Transmission responded by putting our car in long term storage with a towing fee of $100.00 and $15.00 a day storage. They claimed that my husband had given them his birthdate and that was authorization for them to repair the car. While they were getting the car ready to be towed they were loading pieces of our transmission into our trunk. I asked the manager if I could just pay the $229 and get my car back and they refused. After a call from the BBB they returned our car to us but KEPT the transmission. They are offering to sell us our transmission back for $2400 but we are wondering why not $1400 since $1000 was for labor and we would have to pay someone else to install it.

The BBB has lost my original complaints and even let Mr. Transmission join which I can not for the life of me understand. In fact, today when I went to BBB to ask for copies of my complaints I was told to leave the office. The manager of the BBB told me that I had been harassing him with my phone calls. We needed help and I thought consumer problems were what the BBB was all about.

Thank you for letting me vent

I told these guys I was having some troubles and all their support vanished. We struggled on for a few more months and then had to pack it in. Unless you can make them money they dont want to talk to you.

    Damn!!!
I had a bad experience also, but nothing like yours. Mine happened about 6 months ago, with the incompetence of the staff, and the unhelpfulness of the manager, I walked away with a car, that barley ran, and about $3 g’s out of my pocket. O, and a dent or 2on my car.

    Nice Huh!

I tell all my fiends to STAY AWAY FROM Mr. Transmission at all costs!

    Mr. Transmission Huntsville, Alabama

I recently took my 1998 Dodge 3500 truck to Mr. Transmissiom in Huntsville Alabama to 813 Memorial Parkway N.W. Joe Hutton is the manager. I took the truck to them because the transmission had been repaired in Savannah, GA.at a Mr. Transmission there.

After Mr. Transmission in Huntsville repaired the transmission under warranty, less than 12,000 miles the bolts which hold the torque converter to the flywheel backed out and brokeoff. I had the truck towed to another transmission shop the repair what they had done.

Neither the Huntsville Mr. Transmission or franchise corporation wants to help with the $2300.00 bill. This was less than the original bill from Savannah, GA of $2700.00 with the same work performed on the transmission plus changing the flywheel. What can I do to get help from the large franchise.

  • More of the Same on October 27th, 2004 at 10:18 pm

Yes Yes Yes. Glad to see this s**t posted on the web. I went to a mr. transmission back in june 2003. Then again in dec 2003. The work they did didn’t hold up! The same problem had to be repaired again…oh…at an extra cost!

Can you believe the nerve of these people? They are liars and cheats!

Just like Matt’s report on RipOffReport, I did my research. Just like Matt, I worked at a shop for almost 20 years – the work itself I could do with my eyes closed. I believed I could make money with Mr. Transmission. Guess what? NOT A DIME! Guess what else? I FINANCED THE $150,000 INITIAL INVESTMENT WITH A SECOND MORTGAGE!! UNLIKE Matt, this IS going to court. I want EVERY PENNY I put into this AND damages!

I don’t know about the work of other franchises, but DO NOT BUY INTO THIS SCAM, you will NEVER MAKE MONEY!

  • Went to Mr T's....no good on October 28th, 2004 at 9:00 pm

My wife Jenna took her Accord to have it fixed at Mr. Transmission. She thought they were trying to rip her off after being told the transmission needed to be rebuilt and it would cost about $2600. She took it to another shop, who fixed the transmission for about 1400. That is $1200 less than quoted from Mr. Trans !!!!!!!

The Mr. Transmission we went to was at 2655 West Tennessee St TALLAHASSEE, FL Their # is 850-575-9102. Call them and ask why they rip customers off.

We eventaully went to Performance Transmission Svc 850-575-4472. They did the job right, and cheaper. The tranny did not need to be rebulit!
    Saved us $1200…WOW

The owner of Mr. Transmission said everything was above board and denied any wrong doing.

The Service Manager at Performance Transmission said the price originally quoted by Mr. Transmission was way too high, even for a rebuild. He also mentioned the transmissions in the ‘99 Accords were recalled, and the transmission warranty was extended to 100k miles….Thanks Performance Transmission Svc , great job

  • CORRECT on November 1st, 2004 at 8:29 pm

What you are read here is correct. There has been a lot of speculation whether this company is good or not, and now we have the information we need. This company is no good enough to service another car.

They worked on my car and it was a complete disaster. They quoted me a bill of $900, but it came out to about $1370. Before they did the work I asked to give me my car back, they had the nerve to ask me to pay a $300 fee for them checking my car.

    They overcharge

They don’t do the work they promise to do

Simply stated, don’t go to ANY Mr. Transmission.

  • Sure Deal on November 1st, 2004 at 11:08 pm

Amazing what you read. I had more or less the same experience. Bad work, didn’t hold up their enod of the bargin.
Save yourself the money and do not go to MR TRANSMISSION

  • Down with Mr. Transmission! They suck. Don't ever go to this company. on November 4th, 2004 at 7:52 pm

Glad I came across this. This is true. This company sucks. I spoke to a man named Tom Moore, and my local Mr. Transmission right after they did a lousy job on my 89 escort.

First of all they scratched up my car, dented it, and never really did the job they were paid for.

2 weeks after going to them I experienced the same problem. So, apparently they dont really fix transmission,. Maybe they put bandaids on it, likei do for you 8 year old’s Boo-boo’s

I called them up and they gave me some BS story, told me it was not their problem…but I can bring it in to be checked for $50. Then fixed for about $400

Down with Mr. Transmission! They suck. Don’t ever go to this company.

O, Also, when I took it in to get fixed..at another shop, they found a paper plate stuck under my hood!!!

RE: Mr. Transmission, Abingdon, VA - rebuilt transmission lasted only 270 miles - out of pocket $ 2,000 as a result of this experience

Was driving through Abingdon, Virginia on way from Nashville, Tennessee to Alexandria, Virginia when my transmission gave out. Mr Transmission performed a “rebuild” on the transmission.

The vehicle traveled as far as Woodstock, Virginia, some 270 miles, before a stop to refuel revealed transmission trouble - vehicle could not leave the gas station. After a period of time during which the transmission cooled, the vehicle limped back to Alexandria at a hesitant forty miles an hour.

Mr Transmission was notified as soon was possible. Attempts were made by Mr Transmission to locate a transmission shop in Alexnadria area to address the problem but nothing came of these. Frustrated, since the vehicle could not travel four blocks without breaking down, I wrote to Mr Transmission asking some kind of settlement.

Letter came back “suggesting” that I bring it in - to the Abingdon location. A letter to Mr Transmission HQ in Illinois brought no satisfaction. I am out of pocket $2,000 as a result of this experience. And all this from a franchise that bills itself as “The Professionals”. Professional at what, I wander.

“Integrity” and “Respect’ are two other words claimed by Mr Transmission to describe their approach to business. I beg to differ.

    Mr.Transmission, Spartanburg SC.

I had my transmission rebuilt at this place back in last November of 2004. I told these people before they had it rebuilt that I would be soon moving to Texas and if there was no Mr. Transmission in the area, would I be able to take it to a local shop. They said that would be fine, they would work with us if something came it in it. I had it rebuilt for $1,900 and the first day out of the shop it was leaking transmission fluid. I took it back to the shop had them fix it again, took it hope and discovered it was still leaking. I took it back again for the third time and had the same results. The forth time back to the shop they finally got the leak stopped. I moved to Texas in Feb of 2005. We bought a business there (Twin Dikes Marina Resort), and the truck seemed to be doing alright until July 2. It kicked out of overdrive and slammed so hard that it almost caused me to have an accident. I called Mr. Transmission up in Spartanburg again about having it fixed, and was informed that what I was told when I had it rebuilt there was a lie, I had to take it to a Mr. Transmission to have it fixed. The Nearest Mr. Transmission here is 200 miles away (from Jasper to Houston) one way. I had no way of getting the truck down there, and in order to have it fixed it would have to stay there. I tried and tried getting a date set in the shop where they might be able to fix it in the same day. I kept being told that they would call me back everytime that I called. That they were busy. I tried for 2 months calling them and never once was called back. My truck sat for the entire time. I finally called Mr. Transmission back in Spartanburg, SC and told them what the issue was and how much it would cost to have it towed down there, be driven back, be driven back down there, and driving it back. This would be over 1,500 miles of driving between two cars, and the cost of a tow truck for 200 miles. He told me to take it to a local shop, we discussed which one to take to, and that the owner (Joel) and the the shop I take it to would discuss the price to get it fixed. This is a well known shop in Jasper, very busy, and before the appointment could be set Hurricane Rita tore through Jasper and ripped up the town. The finally opened the shop back up after a few weeks. The entire town of Jasper was without power for over a week and a half. I took my Truck down there on Oct 31. They looked at it and called Mr. Transmission in Spartanburg just to be told that I had to take it to a Mr. Transmission to have it fixed. I was lied to again by the Shop owner. I called him back and just got another run around saying that since I drove the truck he could the warranty was void, then changed his story and said that I was too late getting the truck in, (the warranty was NOT up yet), and changed it again saying that I had to take it to a Mr. Transmission to have it fixed. In short, I was lied to and ripped off, my truck is still stitting at the shop in Jasper, and though the warranty on my transmission is not up, Mr. Transmission will not fix it. I will let everyone I know and every business I know from Texas to South Carolina how Mr. Transmission deals with their customers. I am not happy with this experience and I don’t want others to experince the same.

I’m interested in talking with anyone who purchased a franchise from Moran Industries and feels that Moran did not fulfill their franchisor obligations.

    Thank you.

I took my car into Mr Transmission,it wasnt shifting into overdrive and the RPM was a little higher than normal in every gear.
It still sent into gear great and even drove decent.

They said it would cost $60 to give me a checkup and let me know what was wrong with the car. All tey told me was what I already knew “The transmission hadf some troubles”

They listed $590 for labor,I dropped the car off and a few hours later they said the Trans was burnt up and needed to be rebuilt..for $2400! To beat it all he only offered a 12 month 12k mile warrenty on that.

I called Aamco and even he was shocked,he said for that price he could give me a Lifetime Warrenty on the Trans and still do it cheaper.

I am having Aamco tow the car from Mr Transmission Monday and do the work.
