Kumon is an after-school math and reading program that employs a unique learning method designed to help each child develop the skills needed to perform to his or her full potential. It is the largest and most established program of its kind in the world.
The heart of the Kumon learning system is a curriculum of more than twenty clearly defined skill levels and hundreds of short assignments spanning material from preschool all the way up to college. With each assignment, your child advances in small, manageable increments.
Kumon Centers are independently owned and operated by our Franchisee Instructors who have become certified, after an extensive training period, to instruct in the Kumon Method of learning. The first Kumon Center in North America was opened in New York in 1974. Currently, there are more than 1,500 franchised Kumon Centers in the U.S. and Canada, and nearly 130,000 enrolled students.
Kumon Center Franchisees are fully supported through their Kumon Branch Offices. Their staff takes an active role in supporting Franchisees in both the administering of programs and Center growth and development. Student materials are continually reviewed, updated and supplied to their Centers. Both internal communications and customer communications are produced and disseminated regularly. Continuing training, meetings and seminars are widely attended by Kumon Instructors. In addition, Kumon North America is now embarking on the most aggressive marketing and Franchisee support program in its history.
