A Medical Transcription Home Business Career
WAHM:
As a medical transcriptionist, I do get asked several times a month, how I got started in this business. So many people nowadays want to work from home, especially mothers with young children. That’s the primary reason I started my home business ten years ago, so I could be there for my daughter. I didn’t want someone else taking care of her after school instead of me.It’s really not hard to start a medical transcription business. The start-up costs are low compared to many other home-based businesses.
You need a form of education, via home study courses or by attending your local community college. You do NOT need a degree in medical transcription to start a business either. In a short amount of time, usually nine months or less, you can be working from the comfort of your own home, just like me.

Dr. Mohamed,
I’ve been working in the Medical Transcription field for some time now in Egypt. I have been a medical trainer and a quality controller (proof reader) for other medical transcriptionists. I am really interested in your project. I am wondering if we can co-operate in a way. I’ll be waiting for your posts.
Sufeya on June 22nd, 2006 11:45 am
Dr. Muhammad and QCMT:
I have been working as an MTQC for a couple of months now after receiving intensive training for 3 months. I hope that this career would flourish in Egypt because it is interesting and absorbing. It is a kind of work that can drive you to do it. I sort of forget everything about my life when I am proof reading files. So far I know about two companies in Egypt doing this job, the one I am in and another working on radiology reports. Do you have any furthet information?

I am a home-based medical transcriptionist. Have been doing this for about five years. So many people think this is just another work at home scam and I was leery myself at first but I am glad I actually tried it and I ended up with a really good career working at home. Was it easy? Not really. I had to take a course and then get that first job but it has been a rewarding experience and I highly recommend the field of medical transcription.
Brandi on December 5th, 2006 1:16 pm
I am really wanting to find opportunites with a few companies. I have no real experience though. How can I get experience when every company I have looked into requires experience to begin? I have completed course and I am anxious to start.

I am a home-based MT working for a clinic based at Minnesota. As this work lasts for four hours, I have time at hand to handle more work. If any of the independent physicians or small clinics are able to provide me with work, I would be more than happy to provide them with quality work. I am comfortable working on both US and Canada files.
Thank you.

I am currently taking an MT training course. I am residing in the US right now, however, I will be trying to make a move over to Egypt September 2008. Will there be any work there available for me. I have heard many MT companies in the US will not hire me if I am working from Egypt, even if I am a US citzen with a US bank account. I am a little worried about not being able to find work after I relocate.
