Yogen Fruz: The words “Yogen Fruz” are rich in imagery. Yogen conjures the image in consumer minds of “yogurt”, while Fruz can mean “frozen”, “fresh” and “fruit”, all of which apply very nicely to the Yogen Fruz products. When the concept was first developed in 1986, the intent was to create an imported image into Canada. Bresler’s: It all began with an ice cream bar! During the depths of the Great Depression, a 17-year-old visiting New Orleans named David Bresler scrawled a letter home to his older brother Bill, telling him how impressed he was with the ice cream product being pedaled by a local vendor. ICBY, which was the original inventor of the Fat-Free and Non-Fat Sugar-Free frozen yogurt line, is viewed as a pioneer and leader in the frozen yogurt retail category throughout the U.S.

Swensens: There is no better example of successful entrepreneurship than the story of Earle Swensen, charismatic founder of Swensen’s Ice Cream. In 1948, Earle started in San Francisco with one parlor. He touted his ice cream as “Good as Father Used to Make.” Customers must have agreed, because today there are Swensen’s Ice Cream Parlors throughout the U.S. and abroad.
