I once had a friend who was starting a business very much like this one. He spent months picking out the logo, his company colors, getting the typeface just right on the business cards, etc. He did everything except that he never got around to doing any actual business. He ended up going belly up after a year without ever having done a single billable hour. He did have nice looking business cards. Just no business. My suggestion is to forget this kind of stuff. Just go out and do some business. Call some clients, tell your story, and get some projects. If this works out, great–then backfill the details. If you don’t get any clients, then you haven’t wasted a year of work and thousands of dollars on foo-foo stuff for a failed concept.
