Mr. Mohrer, a 2004 graduate of a joint degree program at Columbia University and the Jewish Theological Seminary, decided to continue building a company that primarily sells Ralph Lauren Polo shirts and other designer clothes on eBay and its own Rationalfashion.com Web site.

What he says he will never do is run his own brick and mortar store.

“That’s never going to happen,” he said. “It’s the opposite of what I want to do. It’s irrational.”
