Paul Kedrosky: “It is an old saying in the consulting business, but those who can do, and those who can’t teach — and those who can’t teach consult. That point is nicely driven home in this LA Times piece about the authors of screenwriting guides. Most of the so-called experts have near-zip screen credits to their name.”
Consider the author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Screenwriting, Skip Press. What does IMDB say about him? It seems he’s only sold two screenplays in the last fourteen years, Algo’s Factory in 1997 and A Woman’s Guide to Firearms in 1987. But, according to Amazon he’s written at least 24 books in about the same time period.
