Poll: Small Businesses Have A Positive Impact

n a poll conducted by the National Federation of Independent Business, people rated institutions or sectors in society, as having a positive, negative, or neutral influence. Topping the list was science and technology, with 86% of respondents saying the area had a favorable impact.

Small business took the runner-up spot with 78%, while colleges and universities came in a close third at 76%. Others, in declining order, included: religious organizations, 66%; labor unions, 40%; big business, 38%; the federal government, also 38%; and, at the bottom of the list, television and movies, with a positive rating of only 22%, while a majority of those polled, 51%, considering the influence in general as negative.
