Many Veterans Become Entrepreneurs
Law & Entrepreneurship News: “The Office of Advocacy has released a study entitled Entrepreneurship and Business Ownership in the Veteran Population, which shows that 22% of American veterans are either purchasing or starting a new business or are considering doing such. According to the study, more than 1/3 veteran small business owners have gained skills from their active duty that are directly related to their business ownership. The study also showed that prior business ownership or employment had a positive impact on an even higher percentage of both new veteran-entrepreneurs and current veteran business owners than did military experience.”

Hi,
I am doing a research project on Veteran Entrepreneurs. I need both veterans and non veterans. If you would take a few minutes to fill out my survey I would greatly appreciate it.

I am an Air Force Veteran. My specialty was Medical Service Specialist. I was always told the training I received in the military would always be accepted in the “civilian sector”. I discovered that is not always true. The training I received rendered me “over qualified” in the civilian sector. I was trained to start IV’s, suture and give injections. Since I was not a registered Nurse, I could only work as a Nurse’s assistant which limited me regarding the type of patient care I could provide. That reality forced me to explore working for myself.
