2nd Annual $10,000 Boomer Business Plan Competition
It’s time for the 2nd Annual $10,000 Boomer Business Plan Competition.
The competition is co-sponsored by Santa Clara University’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the American Society on Aging’s Business Forum on Aging, and Mary Furlong & Associates. A $10,000 award will go to the winner of the Boomer Business Plan Competition, to be held in Philadelphia March 10, 2005, part of the annual joint meeting of the American Society on Aging (ASA) and National Conference on the Aging (NCOA).
The Boomer Business Plan Competition is open to anyone with an idea for developing a product or service for the boomer/50+ market. The $10,000 prize will go to the author of the business plan that has the highest potential for success in this market. Last year’s 85 entries included plans in medicine, media, fashion, financial services, housing, and travel. Entries came from students from a dozen U.S. colleges, entrepreneurs from all over the U.S., and England, Japan, New Zealand and Canada.
The winner of last year’s business competition, Onne Ganel and his company, MircoMRI, went on to secure a $4 million National Institutes of Health grant to continue his field research for a bone density screening device.
Deadline for intent to participate is Dec. 15, 2004.
