The Italian Pie
The Italian Pie began in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Bienville Street, back in 1992. Musa and Fatima Ulusan conceived the concept and opened this first location. In 1998, Tom Cangemi partnered with Musa to begin to grow the concept. Tom Cangemi is the former CEO of Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and first sampled the concept back in 1997. Soon after he decided to join Musa to begin expanding the concept. There are currently 21 locations in and around the South Eastern region of the US, with plans to grow the concept nationally. The Italian Pie Corporation also owns several units in New Orleans, where it does its training and product testing.
The Italian Pie is a new alternative to the typical pizza parlor! The “gourmet” pizza and pasta segment is an emerging niche and The Italian Pie is poised to take over this market. Their business objectives are focused on providing their franchisees and their customers with a value that is not offered by national chains or non-affiliated independent operators.
