Half Of Canada’s Entrepreneurs Will Retire By 2020

And now for some irresponsible “the sky is falling” reporting from Canada.com:

On its own, it’s a startling statistic: 500,000 of Canada’s small business owners will retire in the next five years.

According to a report released yesterday by CIBC World Markets, half a million small business owners will retire in the next five years, and by 2020, one half of the country’s 2.5-million entrepreneurs are expected to retire.

What, there aren’t going to be any new Canadian entrepreneurs in the next decade and a half? I’m surprised that the article didn’t include this scary statistic: 100% of Canadian entrepreneurs are expected to die in the next three hundred years.

That’s horrible but the US is in worse shape. 100% of US entrepreneurs are expected to die in the next 120 years.
