There’s nothing quite as scary as waking up to discover that your website has been offline for most of the night and that you can’t get any real information from your web hosting company.
Can anyone recommend a host that when something, God forbid, goes wrong actually communicates with their clients?

I’ve used and had a very good experience with these low cost hosters:

Hi Dane,
I’m a long time reader of this site’s RSS feed, and just thought I’d let you know that I work for http://textdrive.com/ and we’re (at the very least) a host that appreciates the importance of communication.
I was a customer and unpaid staff member long before I was on full time staff, so I obviously love what we’re doing.
We’re not low cost, but we are most definitely priced competitively for what we offer, so it would depend on your needs and expectations I guess.
Have a look for yourself, and email me if you have any questions.

I highly recommend Reseller Edge (www.reselleredge.com). The owner, Derrick Pizur, is incredibly responsive and helpful. Great personalized service overall!
Dana.

I have been looking for a new web host as well and ended up at http://textdrive.com. Take a look at the forums on their site and you’ll get a good sense of how they treat their customers.

I haven’t bee let down by http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/ yet, They’re pretty responsive and maintain a good community presence.
But I have heard good things about textdrive, though I don’t have firsthand experience with them.

I’m new to site management and was lucky enough to stumble across TextDrive last June. I’ve been very happy.
While TextDrive appears to be geared to more knowledgeable site managers, every question I’ve had has been answered quickly and thoroughly…and with patience for my lack of server-end knowledge.
Lots of e-mail updates on what’s happening with, and planned for, with the service. Can’t say I understand everything that’s explained, but there is an effort to keep people informed.
If you read the forums, you’ll see lots of very talented people working, and investing themselves, in this effort.

Thank you to everyone who’s responded thus far. After all of the good word of mouth that Textdrive has received in these comments I’m going to being exploring a move there.
Justin French, look forawrd to an email from me soon.

Send me an email. I run a small hosting company where uptime is our major concern. 24/7 support from our friendly, super-knowledgable staff and we’ll even help you move for free.
