Google to Compete With Paypal

According to the Wall Street Journal

Google Inc. this year plans to offer an electronic-payment service that could help the Internet-search company diversify its revenue and may heighten competition with eBay Inc.’s PayPal unit, according to people familiar with the matter.

Exact details aren’t known yet — but this could be a great thing for ecommerce. Additional competition in the space will bring innovation that will help to drawn in the other half of the population that hasn’t bought and sold anything online yet.

    People use PayPal because it is convenient and easy.
    Wasn’t it just a matter of time until Google made a move to get in on the action?

    Looks like we could be in for some good old fashioned capitalist competition between Google and eBay. And why not…
