Police Shutdown Boy’s Lemonade Stand
Dominic Serino, 9, and his neighbor, Ryan Decker, 11, were forced Saturday to shut down their lemonade stand at Salem Common after an employee of a nearby sausage vendor called police, complaining that the boys were hurting his sales. The budding entrepreneurs had to call it quits, under orders by some reluctant police officers. The boys, after all, did not have a license, and rules are rules. The two packed up and trudged home. But they said yesterday that they remain fans of the sausage man.

unlucky for them, but i guess they deserve it.. that’s for not having a license, as far as i know that’s the very first thing you should secure.

Jadea,
Have you thought of why the government regulates children’s lemonade stands? Did you notice the person who asked for the lemonade stand was the business man who felt his sales were being hurt by local competition. What happened to America being the land of opportunity? With the enforcement of such licensing laws, the government is in effect restricting competition by creating barriers to entry into various industries.
What is one good, valid reason for the government to restrict children from selling lemonade from their driveway or anywhere for that matter?
