Six Disciplines for Excellence

I was planning to post my review of Gary Harpst’s Six Disciplines for Excellence, but my server troubles have forced that to take a back seat. Anita Campbell, though, has done a fantastic podcast interview with Gary on SMB Trendwire. She writes:

Six Disciplines is unlike anything I’ve seen for small businesses. It’s a book. It’s a methodology. It’s technology. It’s a coaching system. It’s something you’ll be hearing a lot more about.

A few weeks ago I drove the two hours from my office south of Cleveland, Ohio over to Findlay, Ohio to visit the headquarters of Six Disciplines. There I met with Gary Harpst, the founder and CEO, and Skip Reardon, the Marketing Director, along with others in the executive team.

Following that meeting, we were lucky to get some of Gary’s time on a recorded Conversation (podcast), which is hosted over at SMBTrendWire. Gary, whose first company is now part of Microsoft, outlines how Six Disciplines can shape the way entrepreneurs manage their businesses.

Look for my review soon.

  • Thanks for noting this, Dane. I am very glad I was within driving distance of the Six Disciplines, because the impact of seeing and experiencing everything in person was powerful. I saw their learning center while I was there, and even had a quick tour of their Web operations center. And spending time in person with Gary and Skip was inspiring. That’s why I think people will enjoy Gary’s podcast — he really is the voice of experience, and is a humble modest guy to boot.
