Blog Startup Idea Of The Day
Chris at Adventures in Capitalism has an interesting idea for a local blog aggregator business:
Just put in your city or zipcode, and the service generates a special page of content with latest and greatest posts by bloggers in your area, or mentioning your area.
You could use algorithms to decide which posts were most relevant based on trackbacks, comments, etc.
People could also add their own blog to the geographical index.
Given all the emphasis on local search and blogging, it sounds like a sure buzzword bingo winner to me!
Remember, ideas are easy. Execution is what matters.

Democratization of blog popularity over a local region may eventually produce a viable platform for local marketing.
However, in the meantime, the creation of niche gateways and of pooled search tools is already here and being executed.
Three examples:
In the world of residential alfresco and interior design, the website hanscot.com provides a gateway to articles published within the last month which interest the homeowner who is interested in design.
In Metro Atlanta, successatlanta.com provides a gateway to the small business owner and salespeople of articles published within the last week, as well as access to Metro wide weather reports updated every half hour.
Within a small religious environment, a search tool has been developed which searches approximately 28 websites for sermon outlines. This same tool can be used for business markets or business networking contacts as well.
All three of these are currently being executed. For more information visit my blog at http://qwerty.us/blog/

Check out blogdigger’s local search. It brings back local bloggers and makes their content searchable.
