In Government, Letters

That was scary: moments after I pressed publish on my last, slightly contemptuous post about the SBA, I received this email from the John McDowell of the SBA’s Office of Advocacy. He wrote:

Knowing of your interest in small business and entrepreneurship, I thought you might be interested in the resources available from the Office of Advocacy of the U.S. Small Business Administration. See our web site at www.sba.gov/advo.

The Office of Advocacy, the “small business watchdog” of the government, examines the role and status of small business in the economy and independently represents the views of small business to federal agencies, Congress, and the President. It is the source for small business statistics presented in user-friendly formats and it funds research into small business issues.

On a regular basis we issue research reports, studies, and regulatory reviews. All of these are available under the “What’s New section of our web site, as well as through email listservs, a monthly newsletter, and RSS feeds. We encourage people to reprint, forward, and report on all that we do.

To join our listservs visit http://web.sba.gov/list/, click one or more of Advocacy Newsletter, Advocacy Press, Advocacy Regulatory News, or Advocacy Research, then scroll down the page to add your name and email address.

To grab our RSS feeds visit http://www.sba.gov/advo/rsslibrary.html.

Finally, To easily comment on important proposed regulations affecting small business, visit www.sba.gov/advo/laws/law_regalerts.html.

Seriously, I doubt he’s even been to the site.
