Earlier this month, we blogged about the federal funds available for tutoring companies. Today, the New York Times features a company that’s doing quite well in the online tutoring arena by outsourcing their work to Indian tutors. According to the article, customers are charged $20 per hour compared to an average of $50 per hour that U.S. face-to-face firms charge. Will this latest outsourcing trend pan out? It may, but it’s likely there will always be some kids that need the face-to-face help that an online connection can’t provide.

Since the public schools in America can’t seem to teach American values, perhaps an entrepreneurial Indian will be able to do so.

I have been taking online tutoring from an online tutoring firm, tutorNEXT - http://www.tutornext.com. I have to admit that I have seen a tremendous improvement in my understanding of Math and English grammar and writing. The way their Indian teachers teach the subject is a bit different in terms of method than the way my school teacher here teaches, but I end up becoming a lot clearer in my concepts. Through various story problems that they gave me, I felt that my current and previously learned concepts became much stronger. My parents wouldn’t have sent me to a personal tutoring program since they are very expensive, but tutorNEXT tutors definitely saved my life!
