Taking a Job vs. Starting A Business
One year ago today: While taking a job after graduation will get you exposure to the business world, it’s most likely not the kind of experience you need to be an entrepreneur. Starting a business is all about gumption, calculating risk, and ultimately taking responsibility for your own lively hood, and unfortunately there’s no way to learn that as a cubicle-dweller.

I’d say that the only good thing about being a cubicle dweller is that it gives you an idea of what not to do.
That said, I have spent the last 10 years alternating between contractor and permanent employment and it’s only in the last 6 months that I have made the step to business owner. I now resell network equipment on my website http://www.mammothnet.com.au

I believe that ‘working for someone’ at the very least teaches you what your employees will be going through, however I believe one should go into with that attitude otherwise if they expect to gain more from it…like experience that will help in owning a business…they will be sadly mistaken.
The worst part of having a job is that you get ‘USED TO’ having a job because of all of the assumed security and benefits…unfortunately this security is anything but secure but it makes you so afraid to venture out that most people, who potentially would be great business owners never lead and reach thier full potential
