First off is Skype. Talk free with anyone, anywhere. If you want to do business in another state, or even another country, you need Skype. I’ve talked with people in Europe and it work better than the telephone.Next on my list would be del.icio.us. What? Am I crazy? No. Tagging is huge. Tagging is a great way to do research and share what you find. Small businesses need to always be learning, finding, sharing, and del.iciou.us can help with that.

It’s crazy to think that delicious is essential to small business. EBay is more often times a competitor instead of any kind of help because it provides a platform for people who can charge ridiculously low prices because they have no overhead. Are we talking about internet business here or small business?

Aaron: Although I understand why you think of eBay as a competitor, the low prices that you mention it allows people to offer can be a huge benefit. Think about all of the small businesses that are now able to afford better supplies or raw materials because of eBay. Do you really think that eBay hurts them?

In the long run, yes. Sure, I can get lower prices than my wholesaler can offer me by buying off of EBay, but MAP pricing is setup by a manufacturer to prevent exactly that, unfair competition. I have worked in the retail industry for quite some time, and I can tell you that when I call manufacturer’s, their number 1 headache is EBay. Why? Their dealers with storefronts can’t compete and thus go out of business.

Well, just to clarify, I’m not saying EBay isn’t a great service. It can provide an easy way for many people to own their own business. The problem is, using EBay, SOME sellers can circumvent a lot of the laws (tax or otherwise) that many storefronts with a physical address can’t. The original question asked about services ESSENTIAL to small business. I can easily live without EBay, as a matter of fact, I make more money, thus bringing more taxes to my local community, thus building roads that you drive on everyday.

Nada exótico: una computadora convencional con placa de audio, micrófono y parlantes. La calidad de sonido, ¿es la misma que con teléfonos convencionales? Depende de la conexión con Internet. La voz es digitalizada y enviada como datos; si la conexión es lenta e inestable, la conversación puede sufrir demoras y cortes. Con un enlace rápido, la calidad de sonido es tan buena como la de la telefonía normal o superior. ¿Cuáles son los pasos por seguir para instalar y usar Skype? Primero hay que ir a Skype.com , bajar el programa e instalarlo. Al arrancar el software, hay que registrarse (elegir un nombre de usuario y contraseña. No es obligatorio dar datos personales.
