I ran across this story in the news from Holland Michigan. 11 year old entrepreneur, Clif Reed, was repairing bicycles and reselling them from his yard. But that drew the ire of the neighborhood and alas.. the long arm of the city law is stepping in. They aren’t forcing him out of business. But they are forcing him to purchase what is called a “Home-Based Business License” in this Michigan city.

Stupid question — if the child is 11 years of age, how can they expect him to enter into a legal agreement of any kind?
I would have to wonder what kind of message they think they are sending to this young man and others like him that may have these ideas…
