Yaro Starak in Flying Solo:

As a soloist working from home you no doubt enjoy your independence.

One of the main reasons you decided to start your own business was so you could choose when you work, how you work and where you work. You make the rules, you are the boss.

Business is going really well. You have clients, work to do and feel that you have made the right decision by starting up your own enterprise. You find yourself waking up excited, checking emails, working on your computer all day for weeks, charging towards your goal of self-governed financial freedom and independence.

Then one day your energy dissipates and you feel you are missing something. You can’t put your finger on it so you knuckle down and get some more work done knowing that the satisfaction of completing a task usually makes you feel better.

Then one day it all falls apart. You wake up and nothing feels right. You can’t work properly. You dread turning on your computer to “deal? with all the annoying emails. Making a sale doesn’t give you a buzz like it used to. Your work ethic drops and you know your baby - your business - will suffer if you stay solemn and unmotivated.

Man, I have to wonder exactly what kind of business a person would/could choose that would provide them no human contact in the process of doing business.

One of the things I love about what I do is that if I want to succeed, I HAVE TO help others succeed as well. This keeps me in constant contact with others.

Isolation is a horrible thing for the human animal. Why do you think that prisons have isolation cels as punishment??

Hmm I find that if you keep things fresh, if you spend at least 1 hour a day, EVERY DAY, for looking into new areas and strategems, and if via this things continue to evolve, I think you can keep the energy up. If your strategy stays good, and the money comes in (which is the key), the energy will follow.

Yes this happens to me, the buzz form a sale usally picks me back up sometimes that is to long in coming, a better layed out day would help so I have tried to do this with putting the mundane first, what I find is always looking to make it better and putting off the things I need to get done. I have found working for yourself is working alone, this said I try to get out of the house each day to get more done that way I am fresh when I get back,
