Seth Godin:

I don’t get it.

Companies spend a fortune to get you to call. Call 800 CLUB MED to book a room. Call 1-800-WWW-DELL to buy a computer. And it’s not just consumer marketing. They want you to call to buy insurance, business travel, hotel rooms and a new energy-efficient roof for your warehouse.

And then, when you call… hold.

I see I am not alone in this matter. I especially wonder about phone "servive" companies. By the time you talk to a human, your fingers are sore from pushing buttons and your ear aches from listening to pre-recorded/computer generated instructions.

I think this might fall into the "they don’t get it&quo; area. It could also be we are the dumb ones. After all, left with no other choice, we wait… and wait… Most likely, it works for them because of a combination of the two. We all wait for we have no choice. They staff fewer and fewer to save cost and spend the money on a better system, which needs no raise, no medical insurance or any other benefit.

… and you are talking America there, mates! Come to Brazil for you to understand what’s to have sore fingers and ear ache all about. Back here we now have the http://www.probare.org/ to complain to but whether it’ll work or not, only God knows. It might do as a relief so at least you have somebody to moan to. rsrsrs
