i find it odd that scads of business people will drop $1,000 on a suit for a meeting so they can put their best face forward with the client but won’t spend more than a couple of hundred bucks on the thing that is THE symbol of their organization. It’ll be on every business card, every contract, every sign, and every sheet of paper your client ever sees. If that image isn’t important, why not just wear a bathroom to your next meeting?

I totally agree. There’s no reason to spend huge amounts of money on logo design. If you have just a little design ability, you can create unlimited logos with a simple logo creator program that costs $30. I bought the product made by Laughing Bird Software over a year ago and have used it to create my corporate logo, program logos and product logos. Everyone who sees them comments on how unique they are.

I do agree that it is totally absurd to spend almost a grand for a logo although it’s important to own a good one which needs to stand out and be different from the rest. But the thing is hiring the so-called “best” people in the business will not guarantee a good logo design. I’ve experienced it and it’s hell. Believe me, some of these hot-shot designers think well above themselves.
WIRED Magazine’s review was really helpful. I did try one the sites featured, http://www.logodesigncreation.com, it’s the only one offering the fastest service (24 hours; honestly, I don’t quite know how they managed that) and damn, their design service is exceptional. No more dealing with those designers-from-hell. That’s for sure… You guys should definitely try it. It’s also relatively cheap compared to most sites I encountered.
Two-thumbs up! I did got my three initial concepts in 24 hours just like what WIRED said, fast and professional. And I simply liked the logo without having to ask for modifications.

Mmm my opinion… If you need just LOGO for your company – you can get a proper one from 100-200€ (couse I`m from Europe), but when you are looking for whole thing (light table, company paper, adverts, maps, website…) – I payed 2200€ for graphical design of my new company NetFUSION ( http://www.netfusion.si) – and I got – Webpage, music for it, Logo, and everything that I need for doing my business… And my opinion is, that noone but professional graphical designer – can`t do everything perfect…
But If you need just a logo – It`s ok to buy one online…
Hope I made myself clear :)

sites like sitepoint, which offer logo contests, will allow you to get a good logo for like $100-$200 while getting ideas from tens of different designers from all over the world- and each one thinks inside their own box…

Many people don’t know how much a good design is really worth. On the other hand, most people who are looking for a new logo are people with minimal budget who are starting their new business, so therefore they can’t afford to pay so much. Maybe when their business grows in future, they may then afford a new high-class logo.
