A Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee has bought the rights to develop 40 shops in the Buffalo market and is buying a former bakery building to support the stores.
Steven Galloway, president and chief operating officer of Kainos Partners LLC, said the heavy presence of chains such as Tim Hortons, Krispy Kreme and Dickie’s Donuts, illustrates the market for donuts is good.Kainos has under contract a former Stroehmann Bakeries facility in suburban Cheektowaga to make and distribute doughnuts and other baked goods to Dunkin’ Donuts stores in the Buffalo market, including those run by other franchisees. The building also will house administrative offices and a store.
Kainos plans to open stores in Erie and Chautauqua counties over a five- to seven-year period. Dunkin’ Donuts has 14 stores in the Buffalo area, run by four different franchisees. There are more than 6,000 Dunkin’ Donuts shops in 30 countries, including more than 4,400 in the United States.
