  • One reason that held me back for the longest time was the cost of health insurance.

  • Don’t know what it’s like in other countries, but here in the UK, it’s never really mentioned as a possibility in school, college etc. You’re just expected to leave education and go straight in to a 9-5 job.

  • I agree to most of your Top Ten Reasons, however; I believe #4 should be placed closer to the top of the list. The financial cost of getting started is often overwhelming. A couple of years ago, I became involved with a company from Montreal, Canada….my investment was less than $1000 to obtain my own distributorship. I haven’t looked back. Good luck!

  • I agree with all of the reasons and that is why it is very important to find a company that has the answers for all of the reasons listed. That is the reason I joined Fortune Hi-tech ( http://www.BuildingMarketingTeams.com ) because the founder of the company was a Rep and knows what it takes to build a good team of reps.

  • I have to agree with ‘civ,’ with parents who were immigrants to this country the idea of not getting a good education and a good 9-5 job, I was never exposed to the idea of becoming an entrepreneur. Funny thing is, a few of my uncles are thriving entreprenuers.

  • The 10 reasons given are really excuses as Rafig said. For instance, if you don’t know the process of starting a business then find someone who does. Find a class, a book or ask someone who knows and learn how to become an entrepreneur. The hardest part is identifying what business to get into, one thing to do is to begin taking note of your surroundings where ever you are, practice being observant and ask yourself from time to time, what business could I start. Look through the classifieds, books, be creative, look for opportunities. Don’t have the time? What about relives/family members who can help, what about weekends or maybe a few hours after work, depending of the kind of business. Try making some sacrifices and set aside savings, get a loan from a friend, family, etc. Starting a business doesn’t have to mean leaving your present job and plunge into uncertainty, you could start from something small, nurture it and as it grows your self-confidence will grow too. Then the load of fear for loosing your job (comfort zone) and failing becomes lighter and lighter. Failure is possible of course but imagine if all those successful men that we know now had let fear stand in their way? Conquer your fears.
