eBay Scams
The scams designed to part people from their money just keep coming – and some area residents keep falling for them.
“One of the new ones targets people selling things on eBay,” said Detective Sgt. Stephen Sipes of the Flint state police post. “Say you’re selling a car for $10,000 and somebody says they’re sending you $12,000. Then you know something is wrong.”
In this scheme, the “buyer” of whatever is being sold, (in this example, a car) sends the seller more money than the seller asks for. It’s intended to prove how serious he is about purchasing it.

Do not fall for the work from home with your own ebay business scam. Here is what happens: You get a cd in the mail, you look at it and can’t make sense of how this will help you. Then you get charged, and then after that, you get charged again, so you call the 800 number to cancel and spend an hour and a half listening to the same 3 hold songs before you get a person. You cancel your “membership” and get a confirmation number of your cancellation. Then, a week later you get another charge, so you call again and wait an hour and a half for a person, and the person tells you this was your cancellation charge and you can’t get your money back because it was in the fine print and you accepted the terms when you signed up to receive your “Free Informative CD”, for which you only pay shipping.
This is a good way to lose about 100 bucks by the time you get them off your back. If you want to start an ebay business, go to ebay’s website and learn about it there. Don’t trust anyone who tries to sell you something because it’s free to learn this stuff through ebay.
