Working at Home Takes Balance
First of all, from a business perspective, running a business from home can certainly be a good idea since it does indeed help keep overhead low, and that’s a big bonus. And if you can maintain a balance between work and home life, working from home can also make life easier. But that balance is indeed key. I worked from home for several years. As I always said – “The good news about working from home is that you see your kids a lot. The bad news about working from home is that you see your kids a lot.”

I’d say it’s a good short term strategy. As you start to have employees or even clients that you need to meet with, the drawbacks start to outweigh the benefits.

Well, I started out working at home – it was great, only, you get to the point where you wind up working far more than you should. Then I moved into offices. Now the offices are too small for all of us – so I’ve started to do a lot at home again – but too many hours. Wish I could find a balance. If anyone knows the secret – I would love to know it.

I believe that the most annoying issue about working at home is that it is still not accepted socially inside many societies. No matter how success you have reached or money you made. Many people wouldn’t consider you a respectable working person if you are not some title at some place, even if you are making more money at home than many of those.
