Does the SBA Help Small Business?

What are your thoughts – does the U.S. small business sector need the SBA? Are they helping small business? While Senator Coburn said that his hearing would be to determine if the agency is operating effectively (similar to other oversight hearing he has had on government programs), would the small business community miss the SBA if it went away?

98% of all US firms have less than 100 employees. Around 56% of all American’s work in these firms. The SBA is the only agency is Washington to assist these firms. If the SBA was closed,120 BILLION in small business contracts would be lost. The SBA budget is extremely small. The Bush Administration has misplaced more cash in Iraq than it would take to run the SBA for over a decade. The Bush Administration spends more money with public relation firms than it would take to run the SBA for five years. Not only should the SBA not be closed, its budget and staff should be restored to the level it was when Bill Clinton left office so the SBA can begin to function properly. The previous commentor, Travis is obviously a moron and a fool.
