If somebody asked me what the future of small business was, I’d say the internet, and not just online retailers. As more and more people use the internet to find information, lookup news, search local businesses, it’s only going to grow more important that a business establishes itself online.
The traditional ways of just bombarding people with advertising isn’t going to work on the internet. People (including you) want to hear from businesses on their terms. That’s why it’s important to setup means by which you can start and get involved in conversations and make your company human.
I believe the future of the internet is in tools such as blogs, email newsletters, podcasting, etc. These, when used correctly, will allow you to position your company to begin building relationships with your customers and establish yourself as an expert in your field.
