Gladys Edmunds in USA Today:
We haven’t come close to the e-commerce explosion that will spring up as we move into the future.Let’s take a closer look. Right now you can buy online college courses on the World Wide Web. Not every college is represented, but you see more and more institutions of higher learning entering the online education business. I have met many people in management who are taking advantage of getting advance degrees this way.
Can you see innovative entrepreneurs creating the graphics and course material needed to fulfill this emerging market? Can you also hear the cash register of the marketing consultants who will be contracted by these institutions to attract the online educational buyer?
Can you see entrepreneurs offering their own courses and workshops on the Internet? It happens now in a minor way. But there is tremendous growth potential in this medium.
Education is just one example. Take a look at health care. I have encountered alternative health care websites that charge a fee to search their content for medical advice.
Can you see that same kind of thing happening with the selection of health, auto, life and home insurance? I wouldn’t mind paying a fee to learn which of the dozens of insurance plans would be the best for me.
