Idea: Sell CafePress Shirts on eBay
July 6, 2006 by Dane Carlson | 6 Comments

Here’s an interesting idea: sell shirts that you make at a CafePress store on eBay.
CafePress, if you don’t know, allows you to create and sells a variety of unique merchandise, from t-shirts to coffee mugs, that you design. What interesting about the idea, is that you don’t need to actually manufacture the item before you sell it, rather you can wait until after the eBay auction has finished and then order it through CafePress and have it delivered directly to the buyer.
Watch the movie.

Great idea. I’m a member of both Cafepress and eBay, but never though of putting them together. It also didn’t click to use my seller’s discount to earn more profit the way it was described in this article. This should be good for some extra spending cash!

Wow, this is a great idea :-). To start producing the item after the first bid is placed. I will think about that seriously. Thank you!

What’s to stop this supposed buyer from taking the idea straight to CafePress and have it made himself without waiting to pay a higher price at your Ebay auction?

Your image/design is protected by a watermark.
They could still take your idea, but they would have to have artistic design skills to turn it into something of value.
Plus they would have to jump thru some hoops setting up the account, etc. Most eBayers just wanna shop.

I was thinking of trying this myself, but would like to know of other people’s success or failure; is there anybody out there who has tried this?? Thanks :)
