For years I’ve been toying around with the idea of opening up a medium sized gaming cafe in the Chicago suburbs. I have already taken care of the issue on how to make money during the day, when our younger market is in school, However, the question of whether or not a place like this can be successful, still remains. I’ve seen plenty of undermanned and poorly planned places in the area (and on the East Coast) like this go under in six months. What is your opinion? What ideas and thoughts do you have that could help a place, like the one I’m proposing, succeed? Do you have gaming cafes in your area that are successful? What unique techniques have they implemented?

My good friend has a cyber/gaming cafe here in southern california. He has been in business for 2 years now and I myself am looking into the industry. It can be very hard because i used to go to one until it shut down 8 months later. For a good cafe, you need a really good isp like verizon or att fios setup for gamers. You need machines capable of running most high end games. A snack/food bar so you can game and have a drink or snack. The biggest part of all is Location. My buddy told me that he is successful because he is near 3 schools. One elementry, junior high, and one high school. He opens a 3:oopm and runs till about 11:00pm and i will do the same. Everyone does things a liiitle different but he is the most sussessful i’ve seen.

A lot of gaming/cyber cafe around here that are successful.. Location is really important, make sure you are accessible, near schools, or rather in the center of a certain city, for that you are assured enough to have your business at the top.

I’ve been trying to get things rolling for my semi retirement /cybergaming biz but wouldnt ya know it …big brother and the city hall band zoned me right back to squared one.I’ve got the dough the time,and the support …everythings waiting for the light to change green.
zoning is hurting me ,any supoort I can get will be most appreciated
