Robert Kiyosaki:

Allow me to be politically incorrect: The No. 1 reason people aren’t rich is because they’re lazy. This is purely my opinion and no one else’s, and I have no scientific proof to back it up.

No scientific proof? Name one very rich and successful person who has been notably lazy. None. Nada. Zip. Zilch! There’s all the scientific proof I need.

    Arthur: Paris Hilton.

Damnit! There’s the exception that disproves the rule

Paris Hilton is not lazy, she actually does a tremendous amount of work considering she’ll inherit a fortune larger than most of us will likely ever see. She lacks talent, not ambition.

well i don’t think laziness is the only reason, i know people who try really hard and still can’t make money, i’ll say talent, knowledge, ambition and many other factors are involved, by the way, paris don’t need ambition!

Absolutely…tie in the cliche that nothing in life comes for free…hard work, a clever approach and doing something with a passion become the hallmarks of getting “there”.

I’d rather try to get rich online using more radical methods. Most people prejudge these methods as crap, but I fount these methods to be VERY profitable.

“Lazy” is a relative term. For instance, if you’re too lazy to follow simple instructions for gaining wealth, then yes– Kiyosaki is absolutely correct. If you’re talking about laziness as far as always spending what you earn and never saving/investing, there are factors such as fear and naivete that keep most people back; if there’s anything these people are lazy about, it’s educating themselves to the wise regarding these things.. so, perhaps Robert is correct. I just canceled myself out.. oh well.

This is absolutely correct. I know everyone remembers the old saying “The early bird gets the worm.” That has proven to be true. A lazy thinker or doer cannot rise. If a business opens at 12noon will he make more money than his competition, that opens at 8am of course not. If I think of an invention and never seek out patents and marketability will my invention see a fortune, of course not only the people with motivation and gumption- or balls and have the physical and mental drive become rich.

I agree.. Laziness is really a hindrance to all aspects in life, determination will just follow then.. Knowledge is all within us, it’s just depends on us on how to use them.

I realize that this is an old post but I came across it and just had to comment. I love Robert Kiyosaki, and to some extent I agree with him on this. Not completely though. There are people out there who are hard-working, but haven’t been blessed with some of the breaks and opportunities that helped others to become rich. Doesn’t mean they’re lazy though.

On the other hand, I do think that some people expect a whole lot for nothing, particularly in home business. I just came off a post where another commenter was really questioning why there weren’t anyways to promote a business and earn money without spending money. I understand the frustration when you have limited funds, but if you find something you believe in you sacrifice and you do what you have to. I have had periods when I’ve used the last $20 in my bank account to start an ad campaign rather than going out to eat or catching a movie. In my opinion, you have to spend some to make some. So again, you sacrifice and achieve a greater goal.

There are also those who truly believe the hype about working a couple of hours a week and making thousands of dollars. That isn’t practical, that’s just lazy. Even if you find a business opportunity or method that’s pouring in the sales for you, you’re still responsible for providing great customer service and support. That alone can take several hours a day! Where I come from, if you don’t work you don’t earn. It’s a very simple equation.
