Internet advertising revenue in the U.S. totaled $7.9 billion in the first half of the year, a new record and a 37 percent increase over the same period last year, according to figures released by the Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Internet ad revenue was nearly $4.1 billion for the second quarter, up 36 percent from the same period a year ago and 5.5 percent from the first quarter of 2006, the report said.
Of the first-half ad sales, 40 percent were search-related; 31 percent were display ads, which includes rich media, banner ads and sponsorships; and 20 percent were classifieds.
