Invention Assists Shoppers

For years Richard Orefice hated dealing with plastic bags. He felt they were an inefficient and problematic way to carry groceries. You have to gather up all the bag handles every time you pick the bags up. That can mean finding 10-20 handles, some double bagged. And if you miss a handle, your groceries fall out.

After much thought, and a few designs, Orefice came up with the Baggy Buddy. It’s a heart-shaped piece of plastic with a slot at the top. You slip the grocery bag handles into the slot and then you can grab all your bags with one hand. They are easy and comfortable to carry and the handle keeps all the plastic bags together and upright when you set them down.

“The only marketing problem I have is exposing people to such a unique, new product,” said Orifice. “Once they see one in action they buy it.”

Orifice gives this advice to other inventors, “You have to be willing to work hard, do your homework, invest a lot of your time and all of your money plus go into debt to obtain a patent, have your product mass produced, then market it successfully.”
