PayPal Back to Normal With Increased Security

Except for stepped-up security and some police tape strung between buildings, business was back to normal today at eBay’s North San Jose campus.

The bomb-sniffing dogs were gone and 1,900 employees were allowed to return to work for the first time since an explosive device blew out a window at the facility Tuesday night.

“We have increased our security measures,” eBay spokeswoman Catherine England said, though she declined to say what specifically had been done.

But how the sophisticated explosive ended up in the breezeway outside a four-story, 100,000-square-foot building at 2211 N. First St. about 7:30 p.m. on Halloween night remained a mystery.
