A new website created by 20-year-old student Shane Murphy is turning his dream to become a home owner into reality as he sells building blocks of his potential house as advertising space.
Launched a few weeks ago, Shane’s homepage is fast becoming a new web wonder as businesses snap up the 100euro building blocks to feature their ad or logo which then link back to their own website.
The logos remain on the site for at least 10 years and advertisers can even rotate the house to specify exactly where they want to buy their blocks. The site takes a completely new twist on the pixel selling craze that recently swept the web.
Tired of renting a college property, Murphy worked out that by selling all the virtual building blocks of a potential new house on his homepage he would have enough money to achieve his dream.

You know, it dawned on me that organizations could use this same approach for fund-raising purposes. Churches, for example, doing a building project could create a virtual version of the plans. Members could then purchase a section. The same thing could work with libraries, colleges, non-profits, you name it.
Not only would it provide a unique way to raise funds, it would add some competitive pressure to members or constituents to give. After all, if everyone else’s name is on the building, how would it look if their name wasn’t!
