Today Show:

In 2004, Jason and Kimberly Graham-Nye bought the worldwide rights (excluding Australia and New Zealand) to manufacture, distribute and market the flushable diaper design first introduced in Australia in 1991. They discovered the design after the birth of their son, Fynn, prompted them to find a diapering option that worked for their baby, for them and for the planet.

gDiapers are a new hybrid diaper option for parents, consisting of a washable outer pant and flushable refill. Flushing is significant in that 50 million waste-filled disposable diapers go into landfills every day in the US, flushable diapers put waste where it belongs, in the wastewater treatment process, not the landfill.

Some time during the week of October 15-21, gDiapers sold their 1,000,000th flushable. That’s 1,000,000 diapers that would have otherwise been landfilled. Given that 50,000,000 get landfilled EVERY DAY, we have a ways to go to complete global salvation but by golly we are on our way!

Editor note: Jason and Kimberly didn’t invent the flushable diaper concept, they just bought the rights to sell the product in the USA. Anyone could do this with a popular product from another country.
