Niche Biz: The Billable Hour
Mark and Lisa Solomon are both lawyers. One day in September 2005, Mark was joking around and said: Lawyers should have watches marked in tenths of an hour, the way many lawyers, paralegals and law clerks bill for their time.
Lisa started searching for manufacturers on the web, and worked with a graphic designer and developed a unique design just for lawyers and other legal professionals, a wristwatch and desk clock with tickmarks in 1/10 of an hour increments.
Lisa worked with a web developer to get their e-business, The Billable Hour, up and running. They launched less than two months after the “eureka moment.”
The Solomons have since added greeting cards and other legal related products to their online store.
