Sock Entrepreneur Is On The Right Foot
Frustrated that women with feet too big for Manolo Blahniks often have to resort to wearing men’s socks, Tina Rickett has set up her own business for women with feet sized eight to 11.
The 51-year-old founder of the Thox company, said: “A friend told me that she always wore men’s socks because she had size eight feet and there was nowhere for her to get women’s socks for that sort of size.
It was another example of women’s body shapes changing and retailers failing to keep up with those changes. I just wanted to create something slim and feminine for women to wear, because men’s socks are usually thick and woolly and not very well-suited to the sort of shoes a woman may wear.”
