Courts Ruled in Favor of eBay In Big Day Out Case

The online auction house eBay has won a Federal Court case against the promoters of one of the country’s biggest music festivals over an anti-scalping policy.

The promoters of the Big Day Out had hoped to beat scalpers when they threatened to cancel any tickets found to have been sold on eBay at inflated prices.

Cricket Australia had already successfully done the same thing with hundreds of tickets for the current Test match series.

But in the case of the Big Day Out, eBay argued that was in breach of the Trade Practices Act.

Today, the court ruled in favour of eBay and ordered the promoters to change the conditions of tickets.
