Geoff Kohl at Work.com:

A webinar, or “web seminar?, allows you to hold a live presentation for a group of people without everyone in the same room, or even the same state. With a webinar, attendees watch a presentation (much like a PowerPoint slide show presentation) and simultaneously listen to the speaker(s). Attendees also can offer live input back to the program (like a conference call, or via emailed questions). The events are usually recorded for archival purposes and can last anywhere from a few minutes to hours.

On24 has been the company I’ve worked with extensively in doing webinars for my Web site, and I give them a thumbs up. WebEx is another popular solutions provider, which has a nice function in that you can show others what’s happening on your computer (you can jump between your own programs and Web sites – whatever you choose) as you all chat in a teleconference. Intercall is another of the larger providers of webinar solutions; they also handle video conferencing and other cutting-edge interactive meeting options. Bulldog Solutions is a B2B-focused webinar solutions provider, and is especially focused on sales lead generation.

Check out some webinars yourself before you try to do one for your business. Make a checklist of what you liked and did not like.

    Dear Dane,

I wanted to expand on the topic above on behalf of InterCall. We know that webinars have become a valuable tool in business because various departments in any organization of any size can benefit from them. For small and medium enterprises (SME) that face increasing overhead and shrinking budgets, they can run professional marketing events and product demonstrations to reach prospects in all markets with one event, for the best use of your time and money. It’s also a great way to create relationships with live interaction during presentations, without having to have a sales rep in every corner for in-person meetings. Ease expansion of your company by using webinars for training of remote employees, especially work-from-home teams, without the overhead of extensive travel. Entrepreneurs focused on growing their business should view webinars as a lead-acquisition opportunity to reach its untapped customer base.

By now you see my point– just how versatile and valuable webinars can be for entrepreneurs. It’s also easy to use the technologies, so don’t be afraid of it. InterCall hosts thousands of webinars every year for our clients, and does our own series of webinars, and even first-time attendees have a relatively trouble-free experience in most cases. For instance, our Raindance Seminar Edition features an easy-to-use wizard that walks you through all of the steps needed to create your seminar, manage invitees and send out e-mail invitations. It doesn’t get much easier than that. Those of you comfortable working with Microsoft products should have no problems with Conference Place because its application is integrated into MS Office and Outlook (thanks to our strategic partnership with our friends in Redmond, Washington).

InterCall prides itself on being user-friendly as well as effective and efficient. Click here to view a t webinar demonstration to see how webinars can help your business.

    Regards,
