Avis Europe plc, a leading car rental company in Europe, Africa and Asia has signed on Turtles Car Rental Services, an indigenous Nigeria car rental company that commenced operations in February 2005 as the official franchisee for the territory of Nigeria.
The franchise agreement was signed on 18 December 2006 in Bracknell, United Kingdom, the headquarters of Avis Europe plc by Messrs. John McNicholas, Vice President Group Licensees, Christophe Duboscq, Regional Director Africa & Indian Ocean and Mr. Kolawole Ogunbajo, Managing Director/CEO, Turtles Car Rental Services Nigeria.
Avis Europe‘s Regional Director for Africa & Indian Ocean, Mr. Christophe Duboscq had earlier paid a 5-day official visit to Nigeria last December.
During the exploratory visit which took the Regional Director to Lagos and Port Harcourt, he inspected the Apapa, Lagos head quarters of Turtles Car, the new franchisee for AVIS Nigeria, Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Turtles Car Rental stand at Terminal 2 of the new domestic airport and later toured some parts of Lagos, to have a feel of the city.
AVIS has its presence in over 35 African countries with Nigeria being the latest addition. AVIS South Africa is the biggest on the continent with over 40,000 vehicles in its fleet.
