Moms Come To Rescue Of Harried Cooks
Here’s the scenario: You’re standing in front of the open fridge, freezer or pantry, staring into the abyss. In your head, you’re repeating over and over again: “What should I make for dinner?”
That’s exactly where Cecilia de la Rocha, a mother of three, found herself many, many, many times. There had to be a better way, she thought.
Enter Wovenfare, a new online menu-planning service — created by de la Rocha and fellow moms Justine Brown, Michelle Shaw Williams and Jodi Maxwell.
Here’s how Wovenfare, billed as the first personalized online menu-planning service in Canada, works: Users fill out a detailed survey about their eating and cooking habits, and within seconds a customized seven-dinner menu plan, complete with recipes and grocery list, is created for them.
The four business partners, moms of nine children in total, started planning the site in November 2005. The site launched last month and, so far, 300 users have signed up from Canada, the United Kingdom and New Zealand. The company is offering a two-week free trial.
