Round The Rancho: Out Of The Bleu
Although Out of the Bleu has been open only a few weeks, it already has generated both buzz and business for owners Janean Linder and Tina MacFarlane.
Location, of course, is helpful, especially when you’re adjacent the popular Inka Mama restaurant and the always busy JoAnn’s. And, as mentioned, enthusiasm and spirit are a huge part of the quotient. Still, we all know of businesses that have had these qualities and sadly haven’t made it.
Out of the Bleu is filled with surprises. For starters, there’s a secured play area for the little ones that features soft toys, storybooks and continuously running cartoons. For grownups: a coffee corner where moms can sit, chat and relax. And toward the back, a party room that doubles as an arts and crafts classroom, plus a photography studio that will feature local children’s photographers.
I’ve mentioned that Janean and Tina have a great deal of enthusiasm and entrepreneurial spirit, and when you step into Out of the Bleu their creativity and style is evident. But they also bring a great deal of practical knowledge. Tina has worked in mortgage banking for fourteen years, and prior to moving to Rancho, Janean ran a consignment shop in Lake Havasu City.
The two women met while attending Saddleback Church Bible study and decided to combine their style and business acumen with their experience as moms. Tina is the mom of a college age son and Janean has four boys ranging in age from two months to 16 years. After finding the Foothill Ranch location Janean’s husband, a contractor, constructed the children’s area, the display cases and the party and photography rooms. In keeping with the shop’s name, the walls were then painted a cheerful sky blue.
